First Bank of the Lake Introduces Debit Card Fraud Alerts!

You never can be TOO SAFE these days when it comes to protecting your money. Our bank at the Lake of the Ozarks understands that FULLY. That is why First Bank of the Lake is here to talk to you about our Debit Card Fraud Alerts in this week's blog. If you have any questions, please give us a call today. We can be reached at (573) 348-2265.

Introducing Debit Card Fraud Alerts!

Your security is very important to us. Debit Card Fraud Alerts provide 24/7 monitoring of your debit card transactions. These alerts help identify and stop unauthorized use of your First Bank of the Lake Debit Card. Now if a fraudulent transaction is suspected, you’ll be notified immediately by our Fraud Center via text, email and/or a phone call.

Recognizing fraud isn’t easy, but with our fraud alerts, we help protect your debit card by detecting suspicious activity in real time. Debit card fraud is challenging because your funds are withdrawn directly from your checking account. While First Bank of the Lake continues to stay on top of keeping your accounts secure, we can now use alert messages to keep your card safer. When our system identifies suspicious activity on your card, you will receive a text message that includes details about the suspect transaction. All you need to do is reply YES if you made the purchase, or NO if you did not. It’s that simple!

Here's How it Works

When potential fraud is detected, you’ll receive an automated SMS Text Message from: FirstBank Fraud Ctr. 8772538962

Example:  FreeMsg: FirstBank Fraud Ctr. 8772538962: Did you attempt $125.46 on card 1234 at Macy’s.  If valid reply YES, fraud NO. To opt out, STOP.

Reply NO immediately if you did not attempt the transaction! Your card will be closed and someone from our Fraud Center will contact you. You may call us during regular business hours at 573.348.2265 to have a new card issued.

If you reply YES, your transaction will be processed and your card will be charged.

In addition to the text message, you’ll also receive an email that contains the transaction information that needs to be verified. You may also respond to the request this way. If there is no response received to the text or email, you’ll begin receiving automated phone calls to confirm or deny the potential fraud. Our Fraud Center will continue to try to reach you until the potential fraud has been confirmed or denied. In some cases, your card may be blocked until a response is received.

Please Note: Our messages will never ask you for your Account Number or PIN. Never provide this information via phone, text or email.
