First Bank of the Lake: Get to Know Our Team

Our Lake of the Ozarks bank is so excited to keep continuing our Get to Know Our Team monthly blog series each month. We know how important it is for our customers to trust the bank they are banking with and how better to do that than by actually getting to know the people working here? Our bank in Osage Beach is filled with many kind and courteous employees. Keep reading to get to know our own Doug Clark.

1. How did you get started in the banking industry?
After graduating from the University of Illinois, I returned to St. Louis and entered a Management/Credit training program with Mark Twain Bank.

2. What is your position at the bank? What are some of your key responsibilities?
I am currently a to Senior Vice President with First Bank of the Lake. Main responsibilities with the Bank are; Underwriting of Government Guaranteed Loans, and Portfolio Management of a portion of the Bank’s portfolio of SBA Loans.

3. What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks?
I work for the Bank at their Loan Production office in Clayton (St. Louis), MO

4. Where did you attend school?
University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) College of Business. B.S. Degree in Finance

5. What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I enjoy directly working with the small business owners and learning about their businesses. I also get satisfaction by providing the financing that is needed to allow their businesses to expand and remain competitive within their specific industries

6. How do you enjoy spending your time when not at work?
Enjoy the Outdoors. Hiking, Golf, Travel

7. When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Professional Baseball Player… certainly not a Commercial Banker

8. What is your dream vacation destination? Why?
Extended Cruise of the Mediterranean… Spain, France, Monte Carlo, Italy, and Greece. Experience the beauty of these countries from the perspective of the water.

9. What is something few people know about you?
I am an Eagle Scout, and I have three sons who are all Eagle Scouts, also.
Another is that I used to play the Banjo while in Junior High School.

10. If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Pay of all of my debt, as well as the debts of my immediately Family. Buy a home on a golf course in San Diego (Winter), and also a home in Northern Michigan/Maine (Summer)… and Travel, Travel, Travel!
