Have you ever owned a NEW car? You'd be surprised how many people haven't. Buying a new car for the first time is a big step. Before you've probably either had a car given to you as a graduation present and just made it last as long as possible or you bought a car but it was used and you were able to pay cash at the time but buying a new car for the first time is different. Stick to your budget.
When you walk into that dealership it can be really easy to be distracted by cars that are NOT within your budget. Stay focussed and only check out the cars that are within your budget and pay no attention to those cars that aren't. Remember, this car is something you'll likely be making payments on for the next 3-6 years so make sure they are going to be payments you can afford.

Make a list of the things you need out of a new car.
Go into that dealership with a plan and make a list of your must-have's, such as:

Great gas mileage
Four doors
Large trunk
Four-Wheel drive
Automatic windows
Automatic seats
Cost no more than $300 a month

...This is just a sample list, but you get the idea. Make your list and bring it with you into the dealership so you can stay on point.

Look online and have an idea of the car you want before you get to the dealership.
Car shopping has become much easier over the years as technology has evolved. Look online at cars near you and have an idea of what you want before you even walk into the dealership. This way, you have a good starting point when you get there.

Get to Know Our Team - Erin Robinson

Hooray! It's that time again. Each month our Lake of the Ozarks bank has been featuring one of our AWESOME team members in our Get to Know Our Team blog series. This month, we are excited to introduce you to our own Erin Robinson. We have asked her a series of ten questions. Keep reading to get to know Erin Robinson a little better. Get to Know Our Team - Erin Robinson

1. How did you get started in the banking industry?
Looking for my first real full time job and applied to be a commercial loan processor and was hired.

2. What is your position at the bank? What are some of your key responsibilities?
VP, SBA Specialist. I help review loans for eligibility, and once approved internally I take the loan through the SBA approval process and work with the borrower, attorneys and title companies to get loans to the closing stage.

3. What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks?
The job, but then family brought me back to Kansas City and luckily I am able to continue my responsibilities from there.

4. Where did you attend school?
Graduated high school in Jefferson City, then attended University of Missouri, Columbia and Kansas City

5. What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Helping small businesses and having the support of a great boss and teammates

6. How do you enjoy spending your time when not at work?
I love to read, watch movies and play with my grandson

7. When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to get into the back room end of politics, doing research, speech writing, etc.

8. What is your dream vacation destination? Why?
The Black Hills in South Dakota. When I was little my family went camping there most summers and I would like to go back as an adult in the wintertime to enjoy the mountains and snow.

9. What is something few people know about you?
I love going to the symphony.

10. If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Buy lots of books.
